One Week Old

The first few days home from the hospital were.....interesting. Greg and I kept looking at this little one and thinking, "is she ours?!" How weird that we have a child. One week later and we are still amazed. A few things have been determined so far. 1) She hates a diaper change 2) She loves her hands and looks like she's directing an orchestra sometimes even in her sleep. 3) She loves to sleep on us, which makes for a hot mom and dad. 4) Bear loves her smell, is very protective, and looks more pathetic than ever.

Some Pictures of Little Evelyn

So, Evelyn (Evie) is about to hit the 48 hour mark. I think that we've reached out to just about everybody, but it's been a bit hectic, so hopefully you'll understand if you haven't already been reached by text, email or through the various facebook updates.

Evelyn was born at 4:06 PM on Wednesday 6/18 (for the record, I had the date pinned and have my iCal to prove it). Jill and I arrived at Piedmont Hospital at 4:30 AM and things progressed smoothly for most of the morning. At about 1:00 PM, Jill began to push. Unfortunately after 2.5 hours of pushing, it was obvious that the baby wasn't going to cooperate, so we had to schedule a c-section to get her out. A bit stressful for both of us - Jill because she'd been trying so hard for so long and me because it's the most helpless feeling in the world.

Regardless, the operation went smoothly and Evelyn was welcomed into the world with much joy. Her vitals: 8 pounds, 6.6 ounces. 21.25 inches long and her head was 14 inches in circumference (maybe why she just wouldn't come out (unfortunately, neither Jill or I were surprised that the child had a fairly large cranium - probably just has a really big brain).

Jill is recovering well - we're in the hospital until Saturday or Sunday depending on how she progresses with the recovery. Both sets of grandparents have been up to help out and we've been grateful for all of the assistance.

A few pictures for now. Certainly more to come in the future

Game on.

We're at the hospital, just waiting for the baby to drop down a little more. We arrived just before 5AM after Jill's contractions became very uncomfortable.

We should be welcoming our little bundle early this afternoon.

Details to follow.

Still Preggers

Yep. With under two weeks to go until my due date, I'm still pregnant.

I went to see Sex and the City movie the other night and as I was coming out of the movie theater, some high school girls asked me if they could touch my belly and take a picture for a church scavenger hunt. It's official- that was the most random thing yet.

Then Greg and I went to the mall yesterday. As he was in the Apple store I went into Brookstone to sit in a massage chair. I was just getting comfortable when the salesclerk asked me to get up. "The chair has been known to induce labor." I said, "That sounds perfect!" She glared at me to move anyway so it wouldn't happen on her watch and I got up and waddled out of the store. Blurg. Some people take all the fun out of things.

I sure am ready to not be pregnant anymore, but my daughter must have a grand sense of humor.

Best to Stay Indoors

Maybe I should just stay inside my house and not see anyone out in public so they can't make comments about how big I am and how my due date seems eons away- I know that already. Eating more ice cream dulls that little bit of info away.

But really, to the man on the church steps on Sunday that said "Blessed be your twins"....were you talking about my belly or something else?!

Stop asking Jill if she's having twins.

It's not nice. Really.

Additionally, it's really not that original. I mean if you're going to try to upset someone, why stop at twins? Why don't you ask when the triplets are due, or whether A&E is creating a TV show chronicling the sextuplets?

We had two separate incidents on Sunday by two random people.

I think we're going to catch the Phillies take on the Braves Friday night. Over/Under on the number of rude comments is 4.5. Anyone care to wager?
