A Shower that Poured

My dear friend, Melissa, threw me an amazing shower on Saturday, complete with food every pregnant woman should have (like friend green tomatoes) and friends that I count myself lucky to share it with. The baby has all the gear it needs to come home and live with us (scary!) It's hard to believe from the pictures of my baby girl belly that I technically still have over two months to go....

Greg's Reflective Happiness

While my sister, Janice, was here, we wanted to use the expert to show us how to use the Baby Bjorn. Since I've been carrying this baby for a while, I figured Greg should learn how to carry it next :) Doesn't he look super excited?!

She's got your nose - maybe

Yesterday, we went and got a 3-D ultrasound of our little girl - allowing us the unfair advantage of seeing her before she has a chance to get a look at us. Of course Jill started to try to determine where certain facial features came from (lips = Greg, nose = Jill, etc...) while I, with all due respect to my lovely bride, think that at the end of the day, she really just looks like a baby.

A few other observations:

1. She's still a girl - I think a part of Jill was still more reliant on wives tales than on modern science. Once again, science triumphs over superstition.
2. The 3-D ultrasound product is really cool - even more if you happen to own the machine and can charge what we paid for 10 minutes yesterday.
3. She's not the most cooperative baby - perhaps more camera shy than anything as she wouldn't move her hands away from her face for long enough to get a clear shot.. I'm certain that she's just preparing for the inevitable paparazzi swarm that we're going to encounter as we leave the hospital in a few months.
4. She's real. Since I don't have an actual living being in my body, this is the closest that I've gotten to really experiencing part of the pregnancy and it was very enlightening. It's much different going from the original ultrasound where you can make out shapes to this version where you see a little person with little hands and feet.
5. I'm excited to meet her. I think that I speak for both of us when I say that we're very excited to meet our little one in a few short months. For me it's probably a good thing that my terror is starting to subside and excitement and anticipation is starting to set in.

Here's a picture of our little girl with just over two months left - I also updated the main picture on the right if you haven't noticed.

Baby + Sugar = Crazy

I've been training for my glucose test for the past month....well, not really, but an onlooker might think so the way my mouth tends to gravitate towards desserts. Baby Hare loves the sugar rush and takes advantage of the space to stretch out her limbs. I don't have the results yet, but I'm thinking that I'll be fine since drinking the "sugar" drink left me feeling completely normal. Now eating a whole box of truffles (in my defense, it was small) was another story. Complete sugar buzz. Sweet.
