What not to do

Jill's been writing for a website for working women for a while now - mainly her thoughts on how to deal with being pregnant in the working world.

I thoroughly enjoyed her last article...and I'm not even pregnant.

A picture...

Jill with less than (or equal to) six weeks to go.

...and a song

I imagine that if i could write songs, or play guitar or really do anything musical, I'd probably write songs like this.

Colin Meloy_Colin Meloy Sings Live!_07_Wonder.mp3

A little song written by the lead singer of the Decemberists about his new baby.

Weird and wonderful indeed.

Baby Boot Camp

Jill and I had the pleasure of attending an all-day baby birthing class last weekend. Aside from the somewhat inappropriate “anti-pain medication” stance preached by the nurse leading the class it, was mostly a useful endeavor. Plus it ended early, which was nice. Some observations:
  • I’m a bit biased, but after sitting in a class filled with other incredibly pregnant women, I’m more convinced than ever that Jill is one hot pregnant lady (and don’t you dare ask her if she’s having twins – curse you YMCA lady).
  • I wasn’t as grossed out by the various birthing videos as I thought that I’d be. Perhaps the scene from “Knocked Up” was the first in an ongoing process of desensitizing us men.
  • That being said, I still think that a baby covered in mucus is gross.
  • So is “the plug.”
  • The girl from the couple next to us had her eyes roll back into her head and she passed out less than 30 minutes into the class (she went to the ER and checked out okay – then returning to class). I think it’s going to be a rough delivery for poor Gracie.
  • Apparently pregnancy information technology hasn’t advanced much in the past decade or so. As evidenced by the VHS tapes and Reagan-era characters that we got to watch have, care for and talk about babies.
  • We’re not supposed to be on the phone if the doctor, nurse or anybody hospital-related is in the room, so apologies in advance if we hang up on you next month.
  • No tripods allowed in the delivery room– bummer.

When it rains...

...it pours. I was doubly blessed this last weekend to have a second shower shared with Florida family and friends. This little girl is going to be one spoiled princess- but I'm sure she won't complain to be surrounded by cute clothes, toys, and all the fancy gadgets they makes these days. Thanks to all who have given Baby Girl Hare gifts- Greg and I so appreciate your generosity and anxiously wait until she gets to use them.....hopefully soon :)
